Missing at the front, 1914-1918: 20 years of archaeological research of missing persons in Belgium.

The bodies of at least 55,000 British dead have never been recovered. On the German, French and Belgian sides, the figures are more difficult to trace. Very often those who went missing come to light by chance during archaeological excavations or during building works. In this presentation, archaeologists Birger Stichelbaut and Simon Verdegem outline 20 years of archaeological research in Flanders.

Canterbury venue, University of Kent, Keynes Seminar Room 16, start time 6pm.
